James Bragg- www.teeshotbooks.com
Jim has overcome a large challenge in this program that may others face. That is limited computer knowledge. I love to see people that were not raised with computers get a hold of the reins and make a successful website. I hop his story is helpful to anyone out there in the training program that is struggling with the day to day operations of their PC let alone the fast paced training for their website.
Here is what Jim had to say;
" Why my site should be in the spotlight:
This is a difficult one, because I am sure that every one of us wants this opportunity and what makes my site worthy of the spotlight over everybody else’s. I can only say that I probably fit into a very small percentage of people that you have trained, the over 60’s, so if a 62 year old can do it, I guess it could makes a good story.
My Experience:
My wife and I are grandparents and have lived outside of England for a good many number of years and only returned in December 2002 because we had been taken for a ride by a friend and lost everything and had no other choice. I am sure that is a familiar story and not one I wish to dwell on, I am only telling you so that you can understand where I am coming from. To cut to the chase, I needed to get our lives back together and working at the only jobs I could fine at my age was not going to make that happen, I needed to find something where age did not matter. In the first couple of months of 2004 at the age of 61 I decided the Internet could be our salvation and got to work finishing the book I had been writing for years. There is nothing like loosing everything to make you focus.
So I was going to sell my book on the Internet and get back to a better life style, however, there was only one problem, the only thing I could do was send e-mails and surf sites, how was I ever going to make money. I searched and read everything I could find about building sites and I signed up for newsletters in the hope that I would suddenly know what to do. In my months of searching I had this feeling that most of the so called “the only programme you need to succeed” were not telling the truth and I could not afford to loose any more money.
I was first contacted in May 2004 by telephone, which seamed a little strange because I live in England and this guy was phoning from the other side of the pond. He told me about their wonderful programme of training and how his company would help me build a solid income, and that he was going to phone me back in a few days and talk again. On putting the phone down I thought, is this guy for real, and then decided if they are prepared to phone again I will listen and think about it. As agreed he phone back and I asked him several questions which he answered, so I said to him that I would think about it, he said the Managing Director would phone in one week’s time and I could speak to him. When he phoned we asked each other a number of questions and I decided that I had to take a chance or I was never going to get anywhere.
I started the programme in September and my trainer was a young lady who was about to go on holiday and told me to set up the Google tool bar and get my site finished and when she returned she would contact me. I got to work on my site which was slow because I knew absolutely nothing about building a site. Anyway, this lady’s husband found another job out of state so she resigned. So I was quickly given another trainer.
It was then that I got Jeremy Cobb as my trainer, and after two sessions he made me understand the mammoth task I had in front of me, and what I had to do to make my site sell. I found him to be very helpful and very honest answering what I am sure were some pretty dumb questions, especially at the beginning. He made it easy for me to understand and really helped me with all the things I had to learn. Before I spoke to Jeremy Cobb I had just built my first site and I thought I was doing alright, but he made me understand that there is more to Internet Marketing than building a site. I was at the dawn of a new age and without Jeremy I would have given up long before now.
I have also built two more sites since I started with my training, the last one I have only just finished and must now start the link exchange programme. All my sites I built from the same template so they all have the same inbuilt problem, again it was Jeremy Cobb that explained what was wrong with my sites and what I must do to put them right. Because the buttons on my sites are heavy in Java Script the Google Bot was not going past my home page, Jeremy told me to make a Site Map listing every page on the site and also place text links at the bottom of every page. He said this will solve your problem. Because I have every faith in him I believe that the next time the Bot calls he will find all my pages.
As of today the 5th of May my first site has 127 reciprocal links and my second site has 81.
My first site is # 6 on the first page on Lycos and # 5 on the first page on MSN. On Yahoo I am # 10 on the forth page. The second site is # 4 on the first page at Lycos and # 7 on the second page at Yahoo. So, I still have a long way to go but I feel confident that I will get there because when I am struggling I can still ask Jeremy questions via e-mail.
Advise for fellow students:
Stick exactly to the plan your trainer gives you. My biggest mistake was not sticking to exactly what Jeremy had told me to do. Make your request for a reciprocal link and give them a week to reply, if they have not, send a second request giving then a further week, and if still no reply after that, delete them. I was giving them 15 to 20 days and if no reply a further 15 to 20 days before deleting them, some times even making a third request. I now know that was a very stupid thing to do and I have lost a lot of time, and I am not as far as I should be by now. That has all changed, I do not know why I was every worried about loosing these sites that did not reply to me, when there are millions of sites out there and hundreds more coming on line every day. If they do not reply to your second request, do not waste you time with them, delete them and move on.
I just wish to thank you for all your help and advice Jeremy, because without you I would have given up and the sad thing would have been, I would have never known what Internet Marketing is all about. As long as I continue to do what you told me to do I know I will succeed, and in the not too distant future be able to move away from England for the last time, and settle in a country with a much better climate."

Thanks Jim!
No matter what level of computer knowledge (or age) you don't have to be a computer genius make money on the internet. Remember even I had to start from ground zero at one time.
